Total length of Tunnel is 944 m.
    • Powerhouse: Surface Pit Type Powerhouse having dimensions, 196.166 m (L) x 28.5 m (W) x 62.2 m (H)
    • Tail Race Tunnel: 7 nos. Concrete Circular Lined having 8.5 m diameter for 300 MW unit and 6.20 m diameter for 150 MW unit
    • Electro-Mechanical Equipment: 5 nos. (300 MW) and 2 nos. (150 MW) Francis Type, Vertical Shaft Reversible Pump-turbines 154.73 m and 162.56 m are the rated head in Turbine and Pumping Mode for 300 MW unit respectively and 154.41 m and 163.21 for 150 MW unit.

Saundatti PSP is located Belagavi district of Karnataka. It envisages creation of upper reservoir, water conducting systems, power house & lower reservoir near Karlakatti village. The scheme will involve construction of 4605 m long Geomembrane faced rockfill embankment dam for creation of upper reservoir of 0.735 TMC gross capacity. The Lower reservoir with 0.706 TMC gross capacity. The scheme envisages utilization of 193.35 m rated head and design discharge of 190.56 Cumecs for generation of 1280MW (4 units of 320 MW each) and 193.08 m rated head and design discharge of 95.81 Cumecs for generation of 320MW (2 units of 160 MW each).

The major project components are:

    • Geomembrane faced Rockfill embankment with height in the range varying between 10m and 38m. for creation of Saundatti upper reservoir with 0.735 TMC gross storage capacity.
    • Intake Structure.
    • Water Conductor system, 4 nos. of 1060.60 m long and 7.1m dia. circular steel lined Penstock / Pressure Shaft (i.e., consisting of 263.15m long Surface Penstock, 244.19m long Vertical Pressure Shaft and 553.26 m long Horizontal pressure shaft up to powerhouse) to feed 4 nos. 320MW unit each. Similarly, One no. of 951.30 m long 7.1m dia. circular steel lined Penstock /Pressure Shaft (i.e., consisting of 259.72m long Surface Penstock, 243.33 m long Vertical Pressure Shaft and 448.25 m long Horizontal pressure shaft up to bifurcation point) which will get bifurcated into 2 nos. near powerhouse each of 77.65m long and 5.0m dia. to feed 2 nos. of 160 MW unit each.
    • A surface Power house having an installation of four nos. reversible Francis turbine each of 320 MW capacity (All units are fixed speed turbines) operating under a rated head of 193.35 m in generating mode & 202.78 m in pumping mode and two nos. reversible Francis turbine each of 160 MW capacity (both units are fixed speed turbines) operating under a rated head of 193.08 m in generating mode & 202.88 m in pumping mode.
    • Six numbers of 255.44m long tail race tunnel connecting the tail race outlet structure and the draft tube of the power house out of which four larger units has a tunnel dia of 8.0 m whereas two small units consists of 6.65 m dia.

The existing Gandikota reservoir will be the lower reservoir and a new reservoir is to be constructed on the hilltop with low height dam of maximum height around 28.0m to create the desired storage capacity for energy storage and discharge. Lower dam is utilized for Irrigation, Drinking water and fisheries purpose. Evaporation losses if any will be recouped periodically from the existing Gandikota reservoir.

Nimu Chilling Hydro Electric Project has been contemplated as a run of the river scheme situated in the Leh district of Jammu & Kashmir. The barrage site is located on River Zanskar just before its confluence with the mighty Indus River. The Project will utilize a gross head of 45 m and design discharge of about 59 cumecs for generation of 24 MW.

The Project comprises a 14.5 m high barrage, a rectangular fore-bay type power intake on the left bank, 5.6 m diameter horse shoe shaped head race tunnel of length 8.9 km, circular surge shaft of 22 m diameter & height 39.5 m, a single 200.0 m long 4.0 m diameter pressure shat/buried penstock, a surface power house housing 3 units of 8 MW. A 24 m long tail race channel conveys back into the existing reservoir of Nimo Bazgo HEP after power generation.

    AEMPL has been engaged to provide Engineering Consultancy Services for preparation of Detailed Project Report for Durbuk Shyok HEP, Leh as per the guidelines of Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Durbuk Shyok Hydro Electric Project has been contemplated as a run of the river scheme situated in the Leh district of Jammu & Kashmir. The barrage site is located on River Shyok Gong/Tnagtse Nala which is the left bank tributary of the Shyok River. The Project will utilize a gross head of 221.5 m and design discharge of about 12 cumecs for generation of 19 MW.

The Project comprises a 12 m high barrage, a rectangular fore-bay type power intake on the right bank, 3.0 m diameter horse shoe shaped head race tunnel of length 5.2 km, circular surge shaft of 6 m diameter & height 65.15 m, a single 940 m long 1.75 m diameter pressure shat/buried penstock, a surface power house on the left bank of River Shyok housing 2 units of 9.5 MW. A 75 m long tail race channel conveys back into River Shyok after power generation.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Bhilangna-IIB SHEP is being developed by UJVN Limited, a Government of Uttarakhand enterprise.The project is proposed as a run-of-river scheme on the river Bhilangna in Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand.

The project envisages construction of an ungated ogee weir across Bhilangna River to divert 24.93 cumecs flow into a water conductor system comprising Head Race Tunnel of size 3.5m, Horse-shoe shaped and 2.07km long; Surge Shaft of 11.0m dia and 38m high; Pressure Shaft of 2.8m dia and 62m long, Buried Penstock of same size and about 247m long, Branch Penstock of 1.6m dia and 35m long each and a surface Power House of size 45m (L) x 12.5m (W) x 27.0m (H) housing total three generating units of horizontal axis Francis Turbines. The flow after generation shall be diverted into River Bhilangna through a 6m wide tail race channel.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Sorang Hydro Electric Project (2x50MW) is being developed by Himachal Sorang Power Private Limited (HSPL). The project was awarded to HSPL by Himachal State Electricity Board (HSEB). The project is located on Sorang Khad, a right bank tributary of the River Sutluj near Sorang Dongri Village in Kinnanur District of Himachal Pradesh.

The project envisages construction of a trench weir across Sorang Khad to divert 17.34 cumecs flow (2 units) into a water conductor system comprising Head Race Tunnel of size 3.2m x 4.0m, D-shaped and 1.45km long; Surge Shaft of 6.5m dia and 56.1m high; Surface Penstock of 3.25m dia and about 826m long followed by a steel lined Pressure Shaft of about 287m long and an underground Power House of size 79m (L) x 16.5m (W) x 39.5m (H) housing total three (presently two) generating units of Pelton Turbines. The flow after generation shall be diverted into River Sutluj through a 4.5×5.0 m D-shaped, 166 m long tail race tunnel.

    • One 2.9 m D-Shaped Head Race Tunnel of length 4.98 km to convey 20 cumecs for power generation
    • 6 m diameter circular simple type surge shaft of 80 m height.
    • A 2.5 m pressures shaft of length 758.60 m which includes top horizontal, vertical and bottom horizontal segments.
    • An underground power house housing 2 nos. of vertical axis Pelton turbines measuring 67.5 m (l) x 17.5 m (w) x 35.85 m (h).
    • A 5.4 m x 6.75 m D-shaped tail race tunnel of length 380 m.
    • The project utilizes a gross head of 602 m and design discharge of 20 cumecs to generate 409 MU of energy in 90 % dependable year.

    The Project is a high head, run-of-river project with 4 hour pondage and is located on Malana Khad, a tributary of the Parbati River, Himachal Pradesh. The Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the project was declared on 12th July 2012. AEMPL has involved in the preparation of post construction activities and monitoring which are required for effective operation.

    Teesta – III Hydro Electric Project has been contemplated as a run of the river scheme situated in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim. The Dam site is located on River Teesta just d/s of confluence of River Laching Chu and Lachung Chu. The Project will utilize a gross head of 817 m and design discharge of 175 cumecs for generation of 1200 MW.

     

    The Project comprises a 60 m high Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam, two de-silting basins of 17m X 23m X 320m; 14.3km long 7.5m diameter HRT, 15.5 m diameter circular surge shaft of 160m height, 1806.67m long & 2 nos. of 4m diameter pressure tunnels including vertical shaft and inclined shaft of length about 1650 m. An underground power house housing 6 units of 200 MW. A 1.2 km long 8.2×8.0 m tunnel conveys back the water back to River Teesta after power generation.

    The following works have been completed by M/s Aquagreen Engineering Management Private Limited for the Review Engineering during Construction Stage (2008-2010).

    • To study and evaluate the construction design/ drawing from the point of view of construction suitability to site condition.
    • Review the works under execution with the objective to achieve the scheduled progress.
    • Review the Construction & Equipment Planning.
    • Review the implementation of QA/ QC program implemented by the contractor and engineering agency.
